When you think of highways, what comes to mind? Fast food chains, gas stations, billboards, long drives, traffic...
How about pollution, consumption, and the greenhouse effect? What if we said that you could give the highway experience more of a local and creative feel that says:
"this is who we are, and this is how we're green."
How It Works:
Each sculpture will be built with the region and environment in mind. What's cool is that they will be built through local community involvement and these sculptures will include solar, or wind mechanisms to produce energy that could be sent back into the local power grid.
The program is going to start in Hawaii, come to the mainland, go across the country, and finish off in the East Coast.
Art Across America is already picked some key locations along our interstate highways that will be used for these sculptures!
Art Across America
is a nationwide art initiative that educates and creates awareness around environmental issues by bringing communities together to build sculptures out of reclaimed materials along our Highways.
Each sculpture will have energy producing alternatives that will be incorporated into their design.
